"Setting the Benchmark for Sustainable Waste Management"
Municipal Solid Waste Management

Sanitary Landfill Cell
BTEP is a Level 4 sanitary landfill designed to meet USEPA standards, ensuring the highest environmental protection. Its compartmentalized cells optimize stormwater control, reduce leachate production, and are progressively filled until reaching the full 120-million-tonne capacity.

Landfill Gas-to-Energy (Renewable Energy)
BEP uses a gas extraction system to generate 12 MW of electricity with 7 gas engines, powering 4,000 households. It's Malaysia's largest Landfill Gas-to-Energy project, with excess methane flared to minimize environmental impact.

Leachate Treatment Plant
A state-of-the-art leachate treatment plant is in place to treat leachate output from the landfill. The plant is based primarily on biological reactions with a series of chemical dosing to achieve the required leachate treatment standards.
